With the Fraser River running along it’s southern edge, New Westminster, or the “Royal City” is the oldest city in western Canada and the first capital of British Columbia. New West, as it is affectionately known, maintains a small-town charm despite being easily accessible via five Skytrain stations and fostering a thriving arts and culture community. Its six eclectic neighbourhoods are known as Historic Downtown, the Quay, Uptown, Sapperton, West End, and Queensborough. Downtown, historic Columbia Street is the main business thoroughfare while Front Street is know for its vintage shops along Antique Alley. New Westminster is home to Douglas College, the Massey Theatre and the Royal City Farmers Market.
